Sunz Of Man

A Group that currently consists of Prodigal Sunn, Hell Razah, 60-Second Assassin, Shabazz the Disciple and (it is assumed, officially) Killah Priest. Prior to becoming affiliated with Wu-Tang, Sunz were known as Da Last Future and included Shabazz The Disciple and 7th Ambassador but not 60 Second Assassin, and produced by Supreme. 7th Ambassador retired before the group's Wu-affiliated days really got started, and soon before the release of their debut album The Last Shall Be First in 1998 both Killah Priest and Shabazz began to clash with Wu leader RZA, both eventually effectively cutting their Wu ties and leaving the group for solo careers. Supreme was kicked out of the group in late 2000, when it was discovered he had been heavily bootlegging the group's music, including leaking a whole album titled The First Testament. Killah Priest, who was absent from the recording of the group's second album proper Saviorz Day in 2002, has began to rediscover his Wu-Tang ties and is expected to work with the group again soon, while Shabazz made his official return to Sunz Of Man in early 2003.

Sunz Of Man - Saviorz Day (Sep 3, 2002)
It's good to see Sunz of Man still making albums. Their songs have never been too popular on the radio, and they've never really tried to appeal to the mainstream either, even while being part of The Wu-Tang Clan. Ghostface Killah makes his presence felt on this album on a couple of tracks, a nice addition, and although there isn't a whole lot new here, their music still has that grimy and gritty feel that it's always had. Still, even the Sunz of Man have made the evolution from strictly street talk to the money game, as seen on their track "Banksta'z." Many parts of the album have a slow-moving, methodical style; the beats are almost too slow to bob your head to. RZA comes through with a verse, Ghostface collaborates on a few tracks, Madam D does as well, and there's a really surprising guest verse by West Coast rapper MC Eiht. Method Man shows up for the outro and doesn't drop a verse, which won't make sense to more than a few listeners. Still, the record has a complete feel with RZA and Fatal Son on production, and is a worthy addition to the Wu-Tang family of records.
